Thank you for filling in the survey, you've jumped through the first hoop. Only a few more to go…sigh.
Now we have a couple of tests for you. This is so you get an idea of what we do and what's required, and we get a feel for how you work.
Please make sure before going through this testing that you have done the following:
- Read our careers page on our website which covers our expectations, our client expectations, how we work and what happens after testing. We've included as much information as we can so you can make an informed decision as to whether our team is a good fit for you.
- Fill in the survey completely. We cannot match you with a client until that has been completed, in full.

Now it's time to gird your loins and dive into the tasks below. The test should take about 2-3 hours, depending on how amazing you are. Just so you know we're not just looking at your skills, we're looking at your problem solving, your communication, your initiative and your attention to detail.
So jump in, read the instructions and if you have any questions, just holler. We know we're asking a lot of you, but it's nothing compared to what our client's ask of us.
Please send your tests to Alice within 48 hours of completing the survey.
We will assess your application once we have all the components and then get back in touch with you with the results. (Please allow up to 3-days from the time we receive your completed application.)

Here are the tasks for you to complete.
- Task one is proofing a document.
- Task two is an email management scenario.
- Task three is seeing how you'd fix a Xero issue.
- Task four is formatting a document.
- Task five is turning that document into a Mailchimp newsletter.
If any of these tasks are outside of your scope of expertise, see if you can solve the problem. Note: If you can't do something please don't stress, we will be sending you paid work that falls within your skillset.
You can send through your completed tasks any way you like, but please make it as easy as possible to assess. It's in your best interest.
Task One – Document Proofing
Attached you will find a document "Test Proposal" with errors. Please find and correct all errors (formatting and content) and send the correct document back in Word format.
Task Two – Email Management Scenario
Your client "Simon" is a corporate coach and offers one-on-one sessions with executives. You manage his email and calendar.
He's extremely busy and booked 3 months in advance, most sessions are scheduled in bulk once the client signs up for his package.
You receive an email from one of his clients:
I have a coaching session booked with Simon for tomorrow afternoon but have to fly out for a presentation. Sorry for the short notice but could we reschedule?
Draft an email reply to the Jonathan and/or one to Simon if you have any questions for him.
How would you respond?
Task Three – Xero Scenario
You manage invoicing using Xero for your client. They have set up an email template used to email invoices but there's a typo in the template.
Can you explain how you correct the typo?
Task Four – Format document
You have been tasked with formatting a document for a client, Paula Feathers http://www.feathersconsulting.co.nz
The client has sent through the attached document "A Questioning Culture" and wants you to proof and format it in a style similar to her website.
Please use a little creativity while sticking within the 'look' and 'feel' of the client's website.
If you would like to use images, please source them from the website. (We know the quality won't be wonderful.)
Task Five – Mailchimp Newsletter
Use the document you created above to complete this task.
Using your updated version of "A Questioning Culture" create a simple but interesting newsletter. One that is easy to read and easy to navigate.
Go to MailChimp and login.
- Username: PotentialContractor
- Password: Potential#1
- Open the campaign titled "Use this to Replicate!" and follow the instructions.
Send through a 'test' to Alice once you're happy with the email. Send it at the same time as you send through the rest of your tasks.
