It’s Not Right For You (The Script)
September 24, 2014
I’m a huge fan of The Script, listening to them as the puppy and I head around the fields each morning puts my head in a great space before the day ahead. Their new album was released this week and one song in particular really said something to me, “It’s not right for you”. The message being, are you living the life you want, the life you imagined living?
My head, my head is full of things that I should’ve done
My heart, my heart is heavy, and it sinks like a stone
She said, “Is this the life you’ve been dreaming of
Spending half the day away from the things you love?
It’s not too late to do something new.”
She said, “It’s hard enough trying to live your life.
But not following your dreams made you dead inside.
If you don’t love what you do.”
For me, thankfully the answer is yes. I’m still in love with my husband after 22 years, I have a great relationship with my beautiful daughter and I love my work. We have good times and those that are not so good but, I wouldn’t change my life. It’s right for me.
“So what” … you may well be thinking! Well, let’s look at you. If you’re happy and you’re doing what’s right for you the benefits are countless. They may include:
- A healthier you
- Happier staff / contractors
- A great relationship with your clients and suppliers
- Climb the corporate ladder faster, or
- Grow a more successful business
- If you’re doing what’s right for you, in turn you will pull like-minded people into your circle
- A better work life balance
Is your life right for you?
If you’re “spending half the day away from the things you love”, look at how you can change those half days. This doesn’t mean closing down your business or handing in your resignation, it doesn’t mean leaving your partner or buying a Harley … but it does mean some planning and changes in order to live your life the right way. You deserve it.
